Groundwater matters in two directions: as a resource to be developed, and as a risk to be understood. SGE works on both — locating aquifers and constructing wells, and installing monitoring wells that track water level and quality over time.
Desk study, geological assessment and geophysical survey are used to identify where water-bearing formations are likely to occur and at what depth, before committing to drilling. Test wells confirm yield and water quality.
Production and test wells are drilled, cased, screened and gravel-packed to suit the formation, then developed and tested. Well records are prepared for handover and for regulatory submission.
Monitoring wells are installed around landfills, industrial sites, coastal areas and development sites to record groundwater level and quality. SGE personnel have carried out monitoring well programmes for landfill sites, saltwater intrusion studies and refinery development sites.
Government departments and agencies, water authorities, industrial and petrochemical operators, plantation and agricultural operations, and developers whose sites depend on groundwater or are affected by it.
