About SGE

A specialist ground investigation company, working across Malaysia

Strategi Geo Engineering (SGE) was established in 2015 with full Bumiputera participation. The company initially focused on soil investigation and geological studies before expanding its capabilities in response to growing demand for specialised geological and geoscience services.

That expansion now covers geological and terrain mapping, engineering geological and rock slope mapping, cavity mapping, construction material and quarry investigation, mineral occurrence studies, environmental site studies, hydrogeology and groundwater work, and geophysical survey.

SGE is supported by experienced technical personnel and is committed to improving productivity and providing a professional approach to client requirements.

What we do

Investigation services

From field probing and drilling through to interpretation and reporting — the technical services SGE provides to developers, contractors, consultants and government agencies.

Soil Investigation — field work

SERVICE 01

Soil Investigation

Establishing subsurface ground conditions so foundations, earthworks and structures can be designed on measured information rather than assumption.

  • Mackintosh Probes
  • JKR Probes
  • Drilling for soil investigation purposes
  • Soil Penetration Test
  • + 2 more
Field Instrumentation — field work
Photograph slotassets/img/photos/field-instrumentation.jpg

SERVICE 02

Field Instrumentation

Instruments installed in the ground to measure what is actually happening over time — slope movement and groundwater response.

  • Inclinometer
  • Standpipe Piezometer
Mineral Exploration — field work
Photograph slotassets/img/photos/mineral-exploration.jpg

SERVICE 03

Mineral Exploration

Coring, mapping and sampling to establish whether a mineral occurrence is present, how it is distributed and whether it warrants further work.

  • Coring
  • Mineral occurrence investigation
  • Potential mining area assessment
Hydrogeology & Groundwater — field work
Photograph slotassets/img/photos/groundwater-investigation.jpg

SERVICE 04

Hydrogeology & Groundwater

Locating, developing and monitoring groundwater — from resource potential studies to well drilling, construction and long-term monitoring.

  • Groundwater potential investigation
  • Well drilling
  • Well construction
  • Groundwater monitoring study
Rock Core Drilling — field work
Photograph slotassets/img/photos/rock-core-drilling.jpg

SERVICE 05

Rock Core Drilling

Continuous coring that recovers an intact cylinder of the rock mass, so its strength, weathering and fracturing can be measured rather than estimated.

  • Rotary core drilling with NQ and NW size equipment
  • Continuous coring through soil into rock
  • Core recovery, TCR, SCR, RQD and fracture logging
  • Core boxing, labelling and photography
  • + 2 more
Geophysical Investigation — field work
Photograph slotassets/img/photos/geophysical-survey.jpg

SERVICE 06

Geophysical Investigation

Non-intrusive survey methods that map subsurface conditions between and beyond boreholes — used to target drilling, not to replace it.

  • Seismic refraction
  • Seismic reflection
  • Electromagnetic — Sirotem
  • Very low frequency (VLF)
  • + 3 more

Featured capability

Geological Mapping & Terrain Assessment

Reading the ground at surface — its rock types, structures, slopes and instability — and turning it into maps and reports that planning authorities and designers can act on.

  • Geological Mapping

Systematic mapping of rock types, structures and weathering across a site or study area, presented as a geological map and supporting report.

  • Terrain Mapping

Classification of terrain by slope, landform, drainage and stability — a standard requirement for planning approval on hillside and undulating land in Malaysia.

  • Engineering Geological Mapping

Mapping focused on what matters to construction: rockhead, weathering grade, discontinuities, groundwater seepage and materials suitable for reuse.

  • Rock Slope Mapping

Discontinuity survey and assessment of rock cuttings and natural rock faces, identifying failure modes and rockfall potential.

  • Cavity Mapping

Investigation of karstic and cavity-prone ground, normally combining surface mapping, geophysical survey and confirmatory drilling.

Below the surface

Geophysics and groundwater

Two capabilities that answer questions drilling alone cannot: what happens between the boreholes, and what the groundwater is doing.

Geophysical investigation

Seismic refraction and reflection, resistivity, transient electromagnetic and VLF survey, down-the-hole logging and gravity — used to map rockhead, fracture zones, cavities and water-bearing ground continuously along a survey line.

ELECTRODE ARRAY inferred rockhead BH-01BH-02 survey fills the gap between boreholes
Resistivity survey line — a continuous section between boreholes

Hydrogeology & groundwater

Groundwater potential studies, test and production well drilling and construction, and monitoring well programmes — including long-running monitoring work for environmental authorities and industrial development sites.
