Soil investigation is the starting point for almost every development. Boreholes, probes and in-situ tests tell you what is under the site — how thick the soft layers are, where rock begins, where groundwater sits, and how much load the ground can carry.

What we do on site

Our crews mobilise boring machines, probes and sampling equipment to the site, set out the investigation positions and carry out the drilling and testing programme. Samples are recovered and logged as work proceeds, and standpipes or instruments can be installed in completed boreholes where monitoring is required.

• Rotary wash boring and rotary drilling
• Mackintosh and JKR probing for shallow profiling
• Standard penetration testing and in-situ soil penetration tests
• Vane shear testing in soft cohesive soils
• Field density testing on fill and formation layers
• Undisturbed sampling using Mazier and piston samplers

What you receive

Borehole logs, probe records, in-situ test results, laboratory test results where testing is included in the scope, a site plan showing investigation positions, and an interpretative report relating the findings to your proposed development.

Where it is used

Housing and mixed-use development, factories and warehouses, roads and highways, bridges, rail and LRT works, water and utility structures, telecommunication structures, and marine or jetty works where investigation is carried out from a pontoon.
